Viva Las Vegas
Before you scroll down I want you to know and I'll be really honest with all of you -these photos are all product of my inadequate knowledge on photography. I just got my first DSLR that time, and I had not even one, but zero erudition on how to operate the said piece of technology. Going through my laptop files, I found these photos and I immediately thought that I could have done way better on capturing the beauty of Las Vegas. But then again, I don't want these shots (ergo my first experience of photography) to go to waste so I felt like putting it up here for the public to see.
Much as you've all seen on movies, Las Vegas the City of Nevada is known for its dazzling energy, 24-hour casinos and entertainment options. Well, indeed it is. It is the liveliest city I've visited so far. Anywhere you go, there are people free-performing on the streets. Of course there are artists on events, but just like any other shows you need to pay to see them. (How I wish I could afford to see them all. I promise to go back and watch at least one.)
But what really fascinates me most is how they created replicas of famous places and turned them into hotels. We went hotel hopping and it only took us 6 hours, and for me an extra 13 band aids on both my feet cased by excessive walking. Anyways, replicas you wonder?
Yes, the replica of the Egyptian Pyramid, Paris' Eiffel Tower and the city of New York are only a few of the many hotels in Nevada. Yes again, these are hotels and casinos and just like how it is in Egypt, Paris and New York -they are set exactly the same.
For example the Luxor Hotel has an Egypt-themed casino and art galleries. Pyramid rooms and suites have slanted walls. I heard that the famous magician Chris Angels, lives at the top most tip of the Pyramid. While Paris Las Vegas feature traditional, European-inspired decors with marbled bathrooms. It also presents a French garden, an indoor Parisian street with live entertainment stages, shopping areas, a lounge with dueling pianos, nightclubs, and several restaurants, including a Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse. Like each hotels have their own themes, New York New York Hotel and Casino features several towers built to resemble the New York skyline, include a roller coaster 203 feet above the Strip and a Hershey chocolate world with giant candy designs. And surely who could forget about the famous Brooklyn Bridge?
Ahhh yes, The MGM grandstand, this hotel is pretty popular in my country since every Pacquiao boxing competitions take place here. The lion statue in front represents the Lion habitat ranch inside the Grand. Over 40 Lions roaming around Las Vegas, how cool is that?
We stayed at Rio all suites Hotel and Casino -a busy Brazilian-themed casino resort. It has a 24-hour party atmosphere that reverberates through the vibrant red, purple and blue neon towers. I stayed by the pool side of what seemed like a man made sand and mini falls.
Excalibur Hotel & Casino, a Camelot-themed resort to which it became my favorite because it looked a whole lot like The Grand Budapest to me. Inside, it was pretty much straight forward medieval-ish.
The Veer Towers (which looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa), The Monte Carlo Hotel, and the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. I can't say much about these hotels because we didn't get to go inside them. But have you seen Hangover 3? Remember the scene where Alan did a little air stun and there was a huge fountain that exploded behind him? Yes, that was one of Bellagio's fountain show.
Ceasar's palace, the classic Roman-themed casino hotel will take you back to the old Rome. Replicas of the Flavian Amphitheatre and other Roman Gods can be found everywhere within the hotel. Notice how the ceiling is painted like sky dusk? Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
Ending my Vegas throwback, as I wrote this post I suddenly had the urge to go back. It's pretty awesome to be experience a city where you only see them before on the big screen. Now every time I see Las Vegas on Hollywood movies I point out and say "I've been there."
I'd say I fell in love with the city's exuberant atmosphere, oh and the people there, yes I know it meant mere business but they sure was nice and friendly. I'd love to have a job there maybe, but I wouldn't settle down to live there. It's more of a get away place for me. So, if I lived there where else can I go for a get away? I mean I wouldn't want to get used to the city. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
